I am seeing and getting quite a few questions from people who cannot access their positions in the UI, because they are in pools that suddenly appear to no longer be supported on the frontend.
Pools like Consolfreight, Harbor Trade 1754 factory, New Silver, Series 3, Cauris, among others. I know some of these pools have low TVL or appear to be heavily impaired, or are otherwise being phased out. Users still have substantial postions in them though and without the UI its very hard to know these positions (in part due to the shared contract pool withdrawal mechanism Centrifuge implemented), let alone to issue or claim a withdrawal. Why are these pools not accessible through the UI anymore?
I know some of these pools might be something the Centrifuge team would rather forget, and I can understand they prefer to highlight newer and more successful pools. However, I think Centrifuge should keep these pools accessible for users. Perhaps the team can make a “show legacy pools” toggle switch, so it’s not on the main dashboard. Or provide an alternative link to legacy pools.
I tried reaching out to the team directly first, but my questions and those of other creditors are not being answered anymore. Why is the Centrifuge team ignoring questions about this? Lucas Vogelsang and Centrifuges main counsel Eli Cohen have been asked by creditors on multiple occassions, and have pretty much stopped responding to any inquiries. Either they will not respond at all or they will deflect with a generic legal response like: “It’s not Centrifuge’s responsibility”. I think it clearly is largely Centrifuge’s responsibility. Centrifuge built the frontend, they supported the counterparties in setting up and integrating the pools, they actively promoted the pools to get users and TVL in, they enabled users to access the pools, and now you cut off access or any other form of support or transparency.
I think the team should provide guidance and updates on the status of impaired pools or pools that are being phased out, but keeping the UI accessible is the absolute minimum they owe users. They were the only platform to access these pools, and after users have already been impaired, further insult is added to injury by Centrifuge, by not only not helping the affected users, but also deliberately removing any access or insight.
Should users be worried that today’s highlighted pools will also suddenly go unsupported in the future? Can current users count on the platforms and teams’ responsibility and reliability? Or are we waiting for the next impairment being brushed away by the team. There seems to be a pattern of hiding information and lack of support, hiding behind decentralization. When other DeFi players that also have decentralized protocols have proven perfectly able to protect and support their users when setbacks occur
