[Altair Collator Introduction] StakeBaby

We would like to express our interest in running a collator in Altair.

Experience

We currently run collators/validators in Moonbeam, Moonriver, Shiden, Calamari, Bifrost, Kilt, Polkadex, Syntropy, and Matic. We are also ready to launch on Picasso, Oak and Mangata.

Contributions & Tools

StakeBaby has contributed to the Dotsama ecosystem by creating and running services such as:

stakeglmr.com - Staking, analytics, and personal account dashboards based on our own indexing platform. Also available for MOVR, KILT, BNC, etc.

polkawatch.io - An alarm platform for watching nodes.

https://dvn.cy - A networking tool for Kusama and Polkadot validators (work in progress)

Uptime & Failover

We have 100% active set time, and near 100% uptime. Downtime has been limited to max 3 minutes and was either intentional (upgrades) or immediately rectified by our automated failover process.

StakeBaby always runs 1-2 backup servers in different datacenters, operates its own private telemetry, and uses automated failover based on AWS services:

Without proxy accounts: Collator Failover for Moonriver Nodes | by Ioannis Tsiokos | Diversified Validator Network

With proxy accounts: Automatic Validator Failover with One Microservice | by Ioannis Tsiokos | Diversified Validator Network

Centrifuge Testnet

Unfortunately, we did not participate in the Centrifuge testnet. We would like to make up in contributions by setting up a staking dashboard for Altair.

StakeBaby Mission

We believe that collators need to be more than node operators. In our view, collators must be able to

  • Write software and interact programmatically with the chain
  • Invest in branding, content, and software tools for delegators
  • Write smart contracts for advanced risk management
  • Help other collators by sharing their tooling
